Georgina Green

Leader of English Conversation Circle

“I have interacted with people my entire working career—in the field of banking, as Public Relations & Event
Co-coordinator at the Kitchener Public Library and, most recently, with Toastmasters.  I saw my own parents struggle to fit in and deal with the challenge of learning English when they immigrated to Canada after WWII.  Having lived in this community for over 50 years, I am familiar with many of its programs and organizations.
I enjoy meeting our Conversation Circle participants, learning about their culture and helping them feel at home
in Canada.”

Roslyn Zehr, B.S., M.A.-TESL

Program Coordinator/Leader of English Café

“As an experienced ESL instructor, I am dedicated to helping newcomers to Canada acquire the English skills they need to be successful in their education, employment, and community.  I enjoy welcoming individuals from around the world to our English Café sessions on Tuesday evenings, where ESL participants can interact with native English speakers in a warm, friendly environment.  Most of my professional experience has involved working with international students who wish to attend a North American college or university.  I have taught numerous courses in writing, grammar, pronunciation, reading, and listening-speaking.  I love to teach and learn from my students, who have come from an array of cultural backgrounds, and I strive to understand and meet their language needs while providing them with a comfortable learning environment.”

About Us

Our program leaders and volunteers are dedicated to helping all people whose first language is not English. Motivated by our Christian faith, our goal is to offer friendship and free English practice and support to anyone in our community who is in need of this service. We welcome all individuals and are respectful of their cultural backgrounds and beliefs. We want to help them improve their English skills so they can fulfill their hopes and dreams of a better life for themselves and their families whether they remain in Canada or return to their homeland.
